2001 and 2002 Women’s Volleyball Teams

• Two of the strongest teams in program history, the Golden Flyers posted a combined record of 72-9, including 14-0 in Empire 8 matches, and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in each of those seasons

• Coached by Linda Downey, Nazareth went 36-3 (7-0 in Empire 8) in 2001 and won tournament titles at Cortland, Ithaca and Penn State Behrend

• 2001 team also captured the NYSWCAA title and won NCAA Tournament matches over Vassar and Ithaca before falling at Wellesley, Mass. in five sets

• Nazareth went 36-6 (7-0 Empire 8) in 2002 and won tournament titles at Oneonta and Cortland 

• 2002 team also captured the Empire 8 and NYSWCAA Tournament titles; won NCAA Tournament matches in three sets each against Vassar and NYU, before falling to Trinity, Texas in four sets at home
