ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Sydney Vanderhoof and junior Hannah Ragule individual events while freshmen Ella Impaglia and Isabel Morse each had second place finishes to lead the Nazareth Women's Track and Field team at the Rochester Invitational Meet Saturday at Fauver Stadium.
Vanderhoof had the top time in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 15.96 which also lands in fourth on the all-time top-five list at Nazareth. Ragule led four Nazareth jumpers into the top-10 in the triple jump with her winning distance of 11.02 meters (36' 2"). Junior Isabella Heath (11.00 meters/36' 1 1/4") was second, senior McKenzie Leahey was third (10.72 meters/35' 2") and freshman Alaina Morley was 9th (9.52 meters/31' 2 ¾").
Morse was 2nd in the pole vault as she cleared the 3.41-meter (11' 2 ¼") bar and classmate Kiara Tornusciolo was 5th with a final height of 3.11 meters (10' 2 ½").
Nazareth took fourth place in the overall team standings with 104.5 points. Geneseo (126 points) won the event followed by Rochester (122), Brockport (109) and Nazareth. The Golden Flyers finished ahead of St. John Fisher, St. Lawrence, RIT, Buffalo State, Hamilton, Alfred State, Alfred Houghton and Fredonia.
The 4x800 relay with senior Emily Weaver, junior Lilianna Hanning, junior Paige Ackley and Impaglia captured first place with a winning time of 10:22.21.
Weaver added a PR in the 1500 as she placed 8th in 4:56.62 and Hanning also hit her PR in the race with a time of 5:06.33.
The 4x100 relay took 2nd in 50.15 with freshman Shiana Susa, graduate student Brenna Johnson, Ragule and Morley.
Johnson also placed third in the 200 (25.99) to earn the NCAA Regional qualifying standard and was tied for 4th in the high jump (1.43 meters/4' 8 ¼").
Junior Lea Richard was 2nd in the hammer throw (46.49 meters/152' 6") and 13th in the shot put (10.44 meters/34' 3").
Nazareth will compete next weekend at the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic.
