LYNCHBURG, VA – Senior Brenna Johnson recorded three top-10 finishes including a personal best in the 200 meter dash team finished with 13 top-10 finishes as the Nazareth College Women's Track and Field team opened the outdoor season at the Dr. Jack Toms Invitational at Lynchburg University.
Johnson was 6th in the 100 (12.90) and 7th in the 200 with a personal best 26.05. She added a second place finish in the long jump (5.65 meters), a 13th place finish in the high jump (1.40) and a 17th place finish in the javelin (20.50).
Additional top-10 finishes included sophomore Lilianna Hanning (6th in the 5K – 19:24.0), freshman Peyton Tripp (10th in the 5K Invitational – 20:24.18) and freshman MacKenzie Gilligan (8th in the 100-meter hurdles – 16.06 and 7th in the high jump – 1.45 meters).
The trio of sophomore Hannah Ragule, junior McKenzie Leahey and sophomore Isabella Heath finished 5th, tied for 7th and 9th in the long jump with distances of 5.26, 5.03 and 5.02 respectively.
Heath was 4th with a personal best of 10.53 meters and Ragule was 5th (10.41) in the triple jump.
Sophomore Lea Richard was 5th in the hammer throw (42.44) and was also 12th in both the shot put and discus (9.91 and 28.64) and took 16th in the javelin with a personal best 20.66 meter throw.
Other top finishers included graduate student Elizabeth Decker (11th in the 800 – 2:27.15), freshman Grace Moyer (12th in the hammer throw – 32.53 and 17th in the discus – 26.40), freshman Riley Norris (15th in the 100 – 13.48) and sophomore Lauren Bendall (19th in the javelin – 18.29 and 19th in the 400 – 1:04.48).
Nazareth will compete next weekend in the Geneseo Early Season Invitational.
