ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Nazareth fell to host Hartwick in an Empire 8 men's and women's swimming and diving meet Saturday afternoon. The women lost their first swimming and diving meet of the season, 173-121 to Hartwick. They are now 3-1. The men fell to the Hawks by the score of 170-89 to drop their record to 0-4.
Carissa Risucci led the Golden Flyers with a first place finish in the 200-yard breast stroke (2:31.11) and two second place finishes in the 100-yard breast stroke (1:10.65) and the 200-yard IM (2:19.57). Other first place finishers for Nazareth were,
McKenna Murphy in the 200-yard butterfly (2:19.60),
Rachael Phipps in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.58) and
Emily Sauter in the 50-yard free (:25.77).
The 400-yard free relay team of Phipps, Maura Reissig, Sauter, and Jaclyn Conklin also finished first with a time of 3:48.82. Phipps had a second place finish in the 200-yard free (2:00.65) and Reissig finished second in the 200-yard back (2:18.44).
In the men's meet, sophomore Jacob Kline had first place finishes in the 100-yard fly (:56.50) and the 200-yard IM (2:08.43). Kline also added a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (:57.04) and was a member of the 200-yard medley relay that placed fourth with a time of 1:45.16. Mike Bidwell, Dan Walton, and Jeremy Hudak joined Kline in the 200-medley relay.
Freshman Bryan Geary placed second in the 100-yard fly (1:00.32) and fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.56) while junior Jeff Baxter placed fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:12.35). Bidwell (5:17.78) and Baxter (6:03.10) finished first and second, respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle while Hudak added a second place finish in the 200 IM (2:18.53).
Freshman Justin Sawran added a fourth place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:56.06) and was followed in fifth place by sophomore Joshua Haak (11:26.7). Sawran also placed fourth in the 200-yard fly (2:11.37). Bidwell (1:06.31) and sophomore Patrick Monachino (1:11.99) placed fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Nazareth's next meet is on November 20 at 1 p.m. when they host Pitt-Bradford
