Cade Eells (3000-meter) and
Jack Pomykaj (Heptathlon) each broke their own school records in their respective events as the Nazareth men's track and field team finished 5th place out of 9 teams in the Empire 8 Championships at Utica University on Saturday.
Geneseo won with 234 points, followed by Brockport (166), St. John Fisher (86.5), Utica (83), Nazareth (53.9), Houghton (21), Alfred (10), Hartwick (2), and Sage (1).
Pomykaj broke his previous school record in the pentathlon to take third place with a score of 4,584. He took first place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.96. In the pole vault he had a mark of 4.35 meters (14' 3 ¼") to take second place. In the 1000-meter event Pomykaj finished in 3:00.25 to take fourth place.
Aaron Lund (3798) received 7th place and
Holden Thomas (3753) took 9th place in the event.
Eells competed in the men's 3000-meter event and took 4th place with a time of 8:30.42
In the men's 4x400
Jack Healy,
Cole Hastings, Joseph Nettles and
Benjamin Lewis took 5th place with a time of 3:29.41.
Freshman
Graeden Heichberger took home third place in the weight throw with a regional qualifying mark of 16.72 meters (54' 10 ¼").
Sophomore
David Dobrowolski took 4th with a regional qualifying mark of 16.72 (54' 10" ¼).
Junior
Adam Reifsteck got on the podium with an 4th place finish in the triple jump at 13.70 meters (44' 11 ¼").
