HILTON, NY (nazathletics.com) - Nazareth Men's Track & Field student-athletes earned seven Empire 8 Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference selections following performances at the Empire 8 Outdoor Championships, May 1-2.
All-conference honors are determined by championship-meet finishes, with first-place finishers earning First Team recognition, second-place finishers earning Second Team honors and third-place finishers receiving Third Team accolades.
Sophomore thrower
Graeden Heichberger highlighted Nazareth's selections by earning First Team All-Conference honors in the shot put after winning the conference title with a meet-record throw of 16.91 meters (55 feet, 5 3/4 inches). Heichberger also collected Second Team honors in the hammer throw with a mark of 56.48 meters (185 feet, 3 inches).
Senior distance runner
Cameron Almy earned Third Team All-Conference recognition in the 10,000-meter run after placing third in 31:21.85.
Nazareth also received a pair of all-conference honors in the decathlon. Senior
Aaron Lund was named Second Team All-Conference after finishing runner-up with 5,910 points, while senior
Jack Pomykaj earned Third Team honors with a third-place total of 5,765 points.
In the hammer throw, senior
David Dobrowolski secured Third Team All-Conference recognition with a third-place mark of 54.88 meters (180 feet, 1 inch).
Junior
Jack Healy represented the Golden Flyers on the Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team. The award recognizes one student-athlete from each institution who demonstrates leadership in athletics, academics and community service while exemplifying sportsmanship and integrity.
