WEBSTER, NY – The Nazareth women's swimming and diving team moved into a familiar spot on Thursday, as the Golden Flyers vaulted into first place after day two of the Allegheny Empire Championships at Webster Aquatics Center. Senior
Alexa Rizzo broke her own school record on the 1-meter board, collecting 486.75 points on 11 dives to take the top spot ahead of classmate
Elizabeth Tripp (451.35 points). In addition,
Julie Filipski repeated as champion in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:10.26, over two seconds ahead of the runner-up.
Filipski,
Amy Barry,
Ellen Burroughs, and
Caroline Coleman raced to a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.78) to close out day two.
Nazareth stands atop the standings with 408 points, followed by Penn State Behrend (381.500), Alfred State (332) and Hartwick (320).

Rizzo improved upon her previous best 1-meter score of 477.35 at Ithaca Bomber invitational on December 3, 2022. In addition, freshman
Josie VanDyke finished fifth with 265.30 points.
Filipiski improved upon her 2022 win (2:11.68) to claim to top spot once again. She was joined in the final by sophomore
Peyton Buell who took eighth place in 2:18.88.
In the "B" final, senior
Grace Cioffi (2:20.36 for 11
th),
Mackenzie Storrs (2:22.53 for 13
th),
Ashleigh Parsons (2:23.75 for 15
th) and
Lauren Sanford (2:24.51 for 15
th) helped collect a total of 32 points for the Golden Flyers.
The Golden Flyers had a very strong showing in the 500-yard freestyle with Coleman (5:17.48) and freshman
Allison Putnam (5:24.90) each delivering personal bests en route to fourth and sixth place overall. The Golden Flyers then delivered 11
th-13
th places finishes in
Sydney Federico (5:32.05),
Maura Miller (5:33.81), and
Alyssa Woodford (5:34.03).
Barry delivered a fourth place finish (25.46) in the 50-yard freestyle for fourth place while Burroughs had a career-best time of 25.68 to take seventh place.
