Rizzo Breaks 1-Meter Dive Record on Senior Day

The 800-meter freestyle relay also set the school record.

ROCHESTER, NY– Senior Alexa Rizzo broke her own school record in the 1-meter dive with a score of 312.65 on Senior Day during a matchup against Penn State Behrend Saturday afternoon. To close out the meet, Nazareth finished in first and set the school record in the 800-meter freestyle relay. Julie Filipski, Ellen Burroughs, Allison Putnam, and Caroline Coleman finished with a time of 8:59.21.
 
Rizzo's previous 1-meter record was 282.98 set in 2022. The previous record in the 800-meter freestyle relays was 9:00.68, set by Taylor Robey, Darby McNamara, Erin Spina, and Paige Pasquerella in 2020.
 
The Golden Flyers came out victorious with a 178-118 win advancing them to 4-1 overall. 
 
Isabella Jaskowski, Ashleigh Parsons, Grace Cioffi, and Filipski opened up the day with a first place victory in the 200-meter medley relay (2:12.98). Teammates Alyssa Woodford, Peyton Buell, Amelia Richards, and Amy Barry secured third place with a time of 2:17.07. 
 
Buell and Barry placed first in the 200-meter IM (2:40.49) and in the 50-meter freestyle (29.24), respectively. Buell was the runner-up in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:24.05), followed by a third place finish by Lauren Sanford (1:24.87). Barry earned third place (1:05.07) in the 100-meter freestyle in today's meet as well. 
 
Filipski secured another first place win in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:52.12) followed by teammates Parsons (3:03.83) and Mackenzie Storrs (3:11.99) who finished second and fourth, respectively. Parsons and Jaskowski also notched first place in the 100-meter backstroke event (1:22.73) and 200-meter breaststroke (2:33.31). Jaskowski had another strong finish (second place) in the 100-meter backstroke (1:11.40).
 
Elizabeth Tripp placed first in the 3-meter (307.45) second with a 263.85 in the 1-meter diving event. Rizzo secured second place in the 3-meter dive (246.60). 
 
In the 200-meter butterfly, Cioffi earned second place with a 2:50.56 while Ameilia Richards placed third with a 3:01.77. Cioffi (1:16.74) and Richards (1:17.39) also placed second and third in the 100-meter butterfly. 
 
Burroughs had a strong first place finish in the 200-meter freestyle (2:20.97) followed by teammate Ally Putnam who secured second (2:23.82). Burroughs later placed second in the 100-meter freestyle (1:04.73) and third in the 50-meter freestyle (30.09). Putnam also received fourth place in the 400-meter freestyle (5:10.26). 
 
Coleman earned a first place finish in the 400-meter freestyle (4:53.61) and a second place finish in the 800-meter freestyle (10:01.19). Woodford collected two fourth place finishes in the 100-meter (1:14.97) and 200-meter backstroke (2:41.72)
 
The Golden Flyers return to action on January 31st at Brockport at 5 pm.
