ROCHESTER, NY – Senior
Lea Richard set a personal best in the weight throw by over two feet with a throw of 17.03 (55 feet, 10 ½ inches) as Nazareth competed in its final meet, the Nazareth Tune-up, before the Empire 8 Conference Championships next weekend. In addition, freshman
Isabel Morse set a personal best in the pole vault, with a mark of 3.36 meters (11 feet, 0 ¼ inches) to take the top spot.
Richard's throw of 17.03 (55 feet, 10 ½ inches) was on her fifth attempt and shattered her previous best throw of 16.24 meters (53 feet, 3 ½ inches) from the regional meet last March.
In other field action, the trio of
Brenna Johnson (third),
Hannah Ragule (fifth) and
McKenzie Leahey (eighth) showed out for the Golden Flyer. Johnson's mark was 5.49 meters (18 feet, 0 ¼ inches), followed by Ragule at 5.29 meters (17 feet, 4 ¼ inches), and Leahy at 5.20 meters (17 feet, 0 ¾ inches).
Johnson was second in the 60-meter dash, notching a regional time of 7.88. She was also seventh in the high jump at 1.42 meters (4 feet, 7 ¾ inches), while
Sydney LaSalle topped 1.47 meters (4 feet, 9 ¾ inches) to take sixth.
Lauren Bendall and
Rosie Morse each vaulted to a height of 2.91 meters (9 feet, 6 ½ inches), which was seventh place.
Emily Weaver was able to run her best-ever race in the mile indoors, running a regional qualifying time of 5:21.86 to take seventh place. Freshman
Ella Impaglia also had a PR, running 5:29.12 for 12
th place,.
Sydney Vanderhoof shaved .02 off her career-best in the 60-meter hurdles to earn fourth place, while junior Bendall shattered her previous best of 10.24, crossing in 9.89 to finish right behind in fifth place.
Isabella Heath ran in the 800 for the first time and had a strong showing, clocking a 2:26.64 which was eighth place.
Nazareth will be back in action next Friday and Saturday for the Empire 8 Championships at the Golisano Training Center.
