COMPLETE RESULTS
ROCHESTER, NY – Juniors Brenna Johnson and Claire Bargabos each won events and the Distance Medley Relay also earned first place points as the Nazareth Women's Track and Field team placed third Saturday afternoon in a Triangular meet with The University of Rochester and Roberts Wesleyan College at the Golisano Training Center.
Roberts Wesleyan won the team title with 56 points, Rochester finished with 51 and Nazareth was third with 39 points.
The Golden Flyers finished with 12 top-3 finishes on the day. Johnson and junior Madison Sabourin finished first and second in the 60-meter dash with Johnson clocking an 8.16 and Sabourin crossed the line at 8.31.
Bargabos and senior Elizabeth Decker were the first and second place finishers in the 400-meter race with Bargabos hitting 1:04.60 and Decker running a 1:04.99 for Nazareth.
Senior Abbey Szumloz recorded her personal best time in the 60-meter hurdles as she finished third with a 10:54 time while freshman Leigha Gould had a personal best time in the 800 with her third place finish of 2:35.74. She shaved more than 11 seconds off her previous best time.
Johnson was also second in the 200-meter race (27.59) and both relays earned points for top-3 finishes. The Distance Medley Relay with freshman Paige Ackley, Szumloz, sophomore Alexis Anagnostopulos and sophomore Emily Weaver finished with a time of 14:23.88 for first place points and the 4x400 relay with freshman Lauren Bendall, Bargabos, Gould and Decker taking third with a time of 4:22.24.
In the field events, junior Gabrielle Pighetti was second in the shot put (11.12 meters (36' 5 ¾")), freshman Lea Richard was third in the weight throw (14.09 meters (46' 2 ¾")) and freshman Hannah Ragule was second in the long jump with her leap of 4.99 meters (16' 4 ½").
The top finisher for Nazareth in the 3K race was freshman Lilianna Hanning who was ninth with a time of 11:34.65. Ackley was ninth and Weaver was 10th in the mile run with times of 5:40.45 and 5:42.97 respectively.
The Golden Flyers will host the Nazareth Invitational Saturday, March 6 with St. John Fisher, Rochester, Alfred and Houghton coming to the Golisano Training Center.
