Alycia Eaton finished second in the long jump Friday to lead Nazareth's track and field teams at he Empire 8 Championship at Houghton. With more events Saturday, the Golden Flyers are in fifth place in the women's team standings with 13 points. Stevens (70 points), St. John Fisher (64) and Utica (35) are the top three. The Golden Flyers are in sixth place in the men's team standings with four points. Stevens is first with 79 points, followed by Utica with 59.
Eaton leaped 5.45 meters (17 feet, 10 3/4 inches) to earn eight team points for Nazareth in the long jump.
Sara Thomas finished in sixth place to gain one team points with a leap of 4.94 meters (16 feet, 2 1/2 inches).
Nazareth also scored in the 4 x 800-meter relay as the team of
Deirdre Brett,
Lydia Dewart,
Kelly Artini and
Maria Staehr finished fourth with a time of 10:01.42.
In the 100-meter dash, Eaton and freshman
Brenna Johnson each qualified for Saturday's finals by finishing second and sixth respectively with times of :12.72 and :12.95.
In the men's meet, freshman
Coleton Pallatto was fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:47.14 and sophomore
Michael Brown was sixth in the 10,000-meter run (34:346.65). Nazareth also finished sixth in the 4 x 800-meter relay (8:39.24) with the team of
Patrick Healy,
Josh Pomerleau,
Jake Suddaby and
Jack Wessel.
