ITHACA, N.Y. – Four school records fell Thursday as Nazareth's men's and women's swimming and diving teams resumed competition at the Upper New York State Championships at Ithaca's Acquatics Pavilion.
Nazareth junior
Tim Rappold placed fifth in the 400-yard IM finals, breaking his own record of 4:12.50 with a time of 4:10.07. Rappold's prelim time shattered the Golden Flyers' school record of 4:24.05 by nearly 12 seconds and increased that gap by two seconds in the finals.
Rappold also swam on Nazareth's 400 medley relay that set another record with a seventh-place time of 3:32.29 in the prelims. The Golden Flyers stayed in the same seventh place spot for the finals with a time of 3:33.43. Freshman

Jacob Kline and
Mike Bidwell also competed. The previous record of 3:34.84 stood since 1999.
Kline also competed in Thursday's consolation finals of the 100 butterfly, finishing 13th with a time of :52.36. He broke his own school record of :51.89, set in 2010 with his prelim time of :51.87. Teammates

Bryan Geary competed in the 200-yard freestyle relay consolation finals and finished in 12th place with a time of 1:31.56.
Freshman
Jeff Green also broke the school record for 11 dives on the 1-meter diving board with a seventh-place score of 466.75 in the prelims. He posted a score of 443.35 in the finals.
The men's team is ranked eight out of 14 through 20 events with 249 total points. Stevens holds the top spot (830.5), Ithaca second (670), Hartwick third (540.5), then Union (504), Rensselaer (402), RIT (299), and Alfred holding seventh (268).
Nazareth also had some strong performances in the women's meet, noteably a third-place finish for the 400 medley relay team of
Maura Reissig,
Carissa Risucci,
Karisa Kobel and
Emily Sauter with a time of 3:56.56 in the event finals. They beat thier time of 3:59.49 from the prelims by nearly three seconds.
Nazareth also swam fifth in the 200 free relay (1:40.08, beating prelim time of 1:40.25) with the team of Kobel,
McKenna Murphy,
Amanda Rogers and Sauter. Murphy and Rogers competed in Thursday evening's consolation finals, finishing in ninth- (1:57.11) and 16th-place (2:00.51) finishes respectively and
Rachel House, who finished 10th in the 400 IM (4:41.46). Teammate
Kim Pedrotti finised four places behind House with a time of 4:47.46.
The women's teams is ranked fourth out of 15 through 20 events with a total of 395 points. Stevens holds the top spot (738), Ithaca second (681.5), and Hartwick fourth (520).
