CORTLAND, N.Y. -- After opening the season Friday with a three-set sweep of Buffalo State, Nazareth dropped three straight matches at the Red Dragon Invitational at Cortland, including two losses Saturday to finish the weekend at 1-3.
Nazareth lost to Fredonia in four sets 25-11, 25-12, 20-25, 25-20 and then lost a tough four-setter to Rochester 23-25, 26-24, 25-18, 28-26.
Nazareth played all four matches without its all-conference setter

Mallorie Clary filled in admirably and was named to the all-tournament team by amassing 19 assists against Fredonia and 34 against Rochester.
In the Fredonia match,
Laura Persico had eight kills and freshman
Elizabeth Fisler (Penfield, NY) had seven.
Natasha Villane added 10 digs and freshman
Leah Farrell had seven.
Against Rochester, freshman
Audrey Zimmerman had 11 kills and nine digs and Kaitlyn Reed added 10 kills and three digs.
Nazareth has an alumni game next Saturday at 11 a.m. and returns to action Sept. 9 at Geneseo at 7 p.m.
