Biography

Communication and Rhetoric major. . . daughter of Donald and Susan Persico, Ravena, N.Y. . . team captain. . . back for her fourth season, Persico was among the top players in the region in 2007 as she appeared in 138 games and posted a team-best 555 kills (4.02 per game) and 298 digs. . . earned honorable mention All-America and first-team all-New York Region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association. . . earned first-team Empire 8 Conference all-star honors as an outside hitter. . . reached double figures in kills in 34 of Nazareth's 40 matches, including a career-high 30 kills vs. Lebanon Valley 8/31/07. . . had 21 kills and 16 digs in the Golden Flyers' NCAA Tournament win over Cortland 11/9/07. . . named to all-tournament teams at Cortland and Nazareth . . . also a first-team Empire 8 all-star in softball as a shortstop/centerfielder . . . recipient of New York State Scholar-Athlete award . . . represented Nazareth at NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Conference in Florida last May. . . 2006:  appeared in 137 games and led the Golden Flyers in kills and digs with 477 and 426 respectively. . . ranked second on the team with 72 service aces. . . received first-team all-conference and honorable mention all-region honors. . . named MVP of the Cardinal Classic at Plattsburgh after leading Nazareth to the team title. . . named E8 Player of the Week for 10/09/06. . . reached double figures in kills 27 times in '06, including a season-high 29 kills vs. St. John Fisher 10/17/06. . . had 28 digs vs. Potsdam 10/6/06. . . 2005: Persico appeared in all 32 matches and 102 games overall. . . finished third on the team with 227 kills and also contributed 232 digs. . . twice honored as E8 Rookie of the Week — 10/23/05 and 9/4/05 . . . Scholastic: a graduate of Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, Persico was a standout in volleyball, basketball and softball. . . named school’s Female Athlete of the Year after earning first-team Colonial Council all-star honors three times in volleyball. . . served as team captain for two seasons and helped team win two league titles. . . also was chosen as a Section Two all-star in 2005. . . played center for the basketball team and shortstop in softball and was chosen team MVP in each.
