Oswego, N.Y. (nazathletics.com) – Nazareth's men's golf team closed out their second and final round at Oswego Country Club. They finished the Oswego Spring Invitational tied for 4th place with Utica with a total team score of +51. They improved on their day one score of +32 significantly, shooting +19 on Sunday. The hosts, SUNY Oswego, won the event with a score of +39.
How It Happened
- Junior Lincoln Crosby ended the event as Nazareth's top golfer, placing 4th overall individually with a two-day score of 150 (+8). His Sunday round resulted in a score of 74 (+3), and it was highlighted by a repeat of his day one birdie on hole 6, plus one more on hole 16.
- Senior Charlie Calcagni (IND) was Nazareth's second lowest scorer through 36 holes, carding a weekend total of 152 (+10). He ended the Invitational in 8th place overall. Calcagni's Sunday round saw him record an 81 (+10), powered by a birdie on hole 15.
- Senior Vincent Falgiatano put on a near-replica of his day one performance, carding another 77 (+6) to finish the event at +12. His round was highlighted by a pair of birdies, one on each nine. He finished in 13th position.
- Freshman Jack Fesetch landed in 22nd place through two days. He made a six-stroke improvement in round two, carding a 76 (+5) to secure a total score of 158 (+16). Fesetch made birdies on holes 10 and 14, shooting just one over par on the back nine.
- Freshman Jaxstin Bingham also made strides on Sunday, shaving 7 strokes off of his prior day's score to come in at 76 (+5). His total score ended up at 159 (+17). Bingham's pair of birdies, in contrast with Fesetch's, both came on the front nine where he took a turn shooting one over par. Bingham finished in 24th place individually.
- Freshman Joshua Anstett finished the weekend in 31st place with a total score of 164 (+22), good for 30st overall. His Sunday score of 83 (+12) was the result of 9 total pars on the day.
- Sophomore Justin Krause (IND) and freshman Todd Wilson (IND) rounded out the squad for Nazareth, placing 35th and 36th overall respectively on the individual leaderboard. They finished with total scores of 167 (+25) and 169 (+27), and recorded matching scores of 85 (+14) on closing day.
What's Next
The Golden Flyers have a quick turn-around heading into their final event of the season. They will compete at their very own Nazareth University Spring Invitational, hosted at the Brook-Lea Country Club in Rochester, New York on Monday, April 27th. The event will be the Nazareth men's golf's Morgan's Message Contest, and they will look to finish their season on a high note.
