Women's Golf Closes Competition at NWGC Tournament

BLOOMFIELD, CT – The Golden Flyers' women's golf team finished fifth overall following round two of play on Sunday at the Northeast Golf Conference Tournament at Wintonbury Golf Course. Freshman Bethany Wineburg was Nazareth's top overall finisher, taking 5th place with a score of +24. 

The Golden Flyers combined to shoot 406 (+126) through 18 holes on Sunday and finished with a score of 586 (+166) for the tournament to place sixth. 

Cortland was first with a total score of 510 (+90) to edge Suffolk, which finished with a total score of 512 (+92). Utica finished third with a total score of 564 (+144).

Graduate student Kayla Ringler was Nazareth's top performer in the second round after finishing with an 88 (+18) and finished seventh overall with a score of +26.

On Sunday, Ringler recorded six pars, including back-to-back pars on the eighth and ninth holes. Freshman Bethany Wineburg finished one stroke behind Ringler with an 89 (+19). Wineburg tallied four pars, including three on the front nine.

Junior Kara Kopyt and sophomore Sabrina Schultz were Nazareth's third and fourth golfers, respectively. On Sunday, Kopyt carded a 109 (+39) and finished with three pars, including consecutive pars on the 11th and 12th holes. Overall, Kopyt finished in 29th with a two round score of +49. Schultz shot a 120 (+50) on Sunday and had a par on the 12th hole. Schultz finished in 42nd place with a two-round score of +67.
