ITHACA, NY– Senior Elizabeth Tripp claimed fourth in the 3-meter dive to lead Nazareth in the second day of the 12th Annual Ithaca College Bomber Invite. Tripp earned a 467.40 while senior Alexa Rizzo claimed 11th place with a 402.85 in the 3-meter dive.
Ellen Burroughs, Ally Putnam, Julie Filipski, and Caroline Coleman opened the day with a strong performance in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The relay team earned seventh place with a time of 1:43.2.
Senior Filipski later swam a 2:00.65 in the 200-yard freestyle, while Coleman (2:01.80), Putnam (2:02.90), and Burroughs (2:05.86) also beat their previous best times in the event Saturday afternoon. Burroughs later swam in the 100-yard backstroke with an improved time of 1:05.16. Senior Alyssa Woodford had a time of 1:03.69 in the same event.
Junior Amelia Richards and Isabella Jaskowski earned a 1:04.94 and 1:05.87 in the 100-yard butterfly, respectively Saturday evening.
Senior Grace Cioffi had a solid performance in her first event of the day with a 5:05.37 in the 400 IM. She also placed 23rd in the 200-yard butterfly event (2:25.94). Cioffi and her teammates Jaskowski, Filipski and Coleman later notched ninth place in the 400-yard medley relay (4:14.40), beating their best time of 4:21.75.
In the final individual event of the evening, senior Ashleigh Parsons (1:11.58) and junior Lauren Sanford (1:13.6) had improved performances in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Coleman, Putnam, Burroughs, and Filipski placed sixth in the 800-yard freestyle relay (8:07.53) to finalize the packed action in day 2 of the invitational.
The Golden Flyers earned 307 total points in day 2 of the Bomber Invitational remaining in 6th place heading into the final day of competition.
Nazareth returns back to competition at 9 a.m. in Ithaca to wrap up the weekend invitational.
