ROCHESTER, NY – Nazareth's 4 x 400-meter relay of
Abbey Szumloz,
Isabella Heath,
Lauren Bendall and
Brenna Johnson, ripped off a regional qualifying time of 4:06.31 on Saturday at the Conference Challenge Cup between 10 schools. The Empire 8 (Nazareth and St. John Fisher), the Landmark (Susquehanna and Scranton), the Liberty League (Ithaca and U of R), the SUNYAC (Cortland and Genseseo), and the MAC (Misericorida and Stevens) teamed up to compete against one another. The Liberty league collected 192.5 points for the win, followed by SUNYAC (180)and the Empire 8 (112).
Johnson had a pair of second place finishes, the 60-meter dash with a regional qualifying time of 7.97., just .06 off the leader. She was also second in the long jump at 5.58 meters (18 feet, 3 ¾ inches). Classmate Szumloz set an indoor-best in the 400, taking fifth place in a regional qualifying time of 1:00.58 to take fifth place. Her previous best was 1:00.78.
In other field action,
Hannah Ragule was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.98 meters (36 feet, 0 ¼ inches), followed by
Isabella Heath in seventh place at 10.72 meters (35 feet, 2 inches).
Isabel Morse jumped 3.20 meters (10 feet, 6 inches), good for sixth place in the pole vault.
Senior
Sydney Vanderhoof ran a 10.05 in the 60-meter hurdles to finish 14
th.
Ella Impaglia had a strong showing in her first indoor mile, clocking a 5:33.45 to earn seventh place.
Megan Morin was 10
th (5:45.78) and
Leigha Gould (5:52.41) was 14
th.
Nazareth returns to action next Friday at the RIT Invitational.
