Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men's Hockey Blanks King's, 5-0

ROCHESTER, NY – Nazareth netted a pair of power play goals less than 1:30 apart in the first period and went on to blank King's 5-0 on Friday night at Bill Gray's Ice Plex. Nazareth had five different goal scorers in the game.

With the win, the Golden Flyers improve to 10-4-2 overall and 7-1-1 in league play, while the Monarchs drop to 3-10-2 and 2-7-2, respectively.

Nazareth was able to take advantage of a 5-on-3 power play after a game misconduct from the Monarchs to net its first goal of the game. The reigning UCHC player of the week, Ethan Louisos, scored his team-leading eighth of the season off a rebound shot from the point from Logan Tobias.

Still with the man advantage remaining from the game misconduct, Nazareth lit the lamp again 1:25 later as Joey Schaefer roofed it over the goaltenders shoulder on a pass from Michael DiSchiavi.

The score remained locked at 2-0 until late in the second when Keith Davenport scored his first of the season from Owen Heidelberger and Johnny Jackson with 3:22 remaining.  Just over two minutes later, a stolen puck in the neutral zone and a beautiful give-and-go from Blake frost to Henry McKinney made it 4-0. It was McKinney's seventh of the season.

The Golden Flyers tacked on one more in the third behind Matt Lakus first of the year.

Raphael Provencher earned his second shutout of the year with 18 saves.

Nazareth and King's will square off again on Saturday at 4 p.m.
