Brett Randall, a graduate student from Rochester, led the Golden Flyers and the Empire 8 in scoring in 2022 after playing four seasons at the University of Richmond. He became the fourth Nazareth player the amass 100 points in a season by totaling 55 goals and 45 assists. He also scooped up 33 ground balls.
Quinn McKercher, a sophomore from Lake Mary, Fla., ranked second on the team in scoring in 2022 with 71 points on 50 goals and 21 assists. He was a second-team selection in 2021 as well as the league's Rookie of the Year.
Roth, a senior from Honeoye Falls, N.Y., and
Griffin Randall, a senior from Victor, NY., each are repeat selections to the first team. Roth was the Golden Flyers' top-scoring midfielder in 2022 with 58 points on 37 goals and 21 assists. Randall has started every game as a close defender the past two seasons and in 2022 had 33 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.
Braeden McKercher, a junior from Lake Mary, Fla., contributed 40 points on 25 goals and 15 assists, while Jacob, a graduate student from Pittsford, N.Y., ranked fourth on the team with 47 points on 29 goals and 18 assists. He also became the 17th Nazareth player to reach 100 career goals.
O'Brian, a freshman from Swampscott, Mass., played in all 17 games for the Golden Flyers and contributed one goal and one assist with 20 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. Martinez, a senior from Laporte, Col., played in 13 games and delivered one goal and four assists with 27 ground balls and five caused turnovers. Keane, a freshman from Orchard Park, N.Y., emerged as a reliable face-off specialist for the Golden Flyers as he won 240 draws in 428 attempts for a .561 success percentage. He also led the team with 133 ground balls. Included in his face-off win total was a single-game record of 25 wins at Hartwick on April 8.
Almquist, a senior from Wakefield, Mass., compiled a 6-3 record in 11 goalie appearances. He also had 98 saves for a .527 save percentage.
One member of each team was named as that institution's representative on the 2022 Empire 8 men's lacrosse Sportsman of the Year team. The Empire 8 emphasizes that "competing with honor and integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. As Nazareth's representative, Parrinello, a senior from Penfield, N.Y., has consistently exhibited that critical traits as an outstanding sportsman.
