BETHLEHEM, PA – Graduate student Abbey Szumloz broke the school record in the 400-meter hurdles Thursday as she placed ninth in the race at the All-Atlantic Regional Championship meet at Moravian College.
Szumloz shaved two seconds off her career best time with a 1:04.39. The time was good enough to win her heat by two seconds and place her ninth overall. The old record was set in 2013 by Keaghan Morrissey when she ran a 1:05.77 on May 4, 2013 at St. Lawrence University. Sophomore Lauren Bendall finished in 21st position with a time of 1:09.35.
Other top finishers on the day for the Golden Flyers included senior Elizabeth Decker who placed 14th in the 800 with a time of 2:18.91, junior Brenna Johnson who took eighth in the long jump as she had a leap of 5.64 meters (18' 6") and sophomore Lea Richard who placed 11th in the hammer throw as she tossed a 45.04 meter (147' 9") effort.
On the men's side, the 4x400 relay with senior

Ethan Kenyon, sophomore
Kenny Williams and junior
Lucas Sharron finished second in their heat and eighth overall with the second fastest time in school history as the relay clocked an 8:01.79. The school record was a 7:53.01 set in 2008 at the University of Rochester.
