ROCHESTER, NY – Junior Alexis Anagnostopulos finished fifth in the 3K Steeplechase Saturday afternoon to lead the Nazareth College Women's Track and Field team to a 10th place finish at the Rochester Invitational at Fauver Stadium.

The junior middle distance runner raced to a 12:56.11 to take fifth overall and teammate freshman Ruth DeSanctis finished seventh with a personal best 13:04.71.

The Golden Flyers earned 20.5 points to place 10th overall. Brockport won the team race with 139 points and Geneseo was second (134.5 points). Host Rochester was third (128) followed by Ithaca (65), Daemen (53), RIT (49), St. John Fisher (45), Niagara (44), Buffalo State (31) and Nazareth. The Golden Flyers finished ahead of Alfred, LeMoyne, Alfred State, Fredonia and Houghton.

Nazareth had three sixth place finishers as sophomore Lauren Bendall was sixth in the 400 with a PR time of 1:02.47, senior Claire Bargabos was sixth in the 800 with a PR time of 2:25.15 and graduate student Anna Ahlquist was sixth in the pole vault with a final height of 3.36 meters.

Freshman MacKenzie Gilligan was seventh and junior Sydney Vanderhoof was ninth in the 110 hurdles with times of 16.34 and 16.77 respectively.

Junior Sarah Merriwether was seventh in the high jump as she cleared 1.45 meters (4' 9") and sophomore Lea Richard was eighth in the hammer throw with a PR throw of 44.27 metrers.

Sophomore Hannah Ragule was eighth in the 400 hurdles with a PR time of 1:11.47 while graduate student Elizabeth Decker was 11th in the 1500 in 5:02.62 and freshman Elizabeth Fish had a PR in the 5K with her time of 20:43.25.

Junior McKenzie Leahey had a PR finish in the 100 as she clocked a 13.34 to finish 13th overall.

Nazareth hosts the Empire 8 Championships May 6-7 at Golden Flyer Stadium.
