HERSHEY, PA – Sophomore Jeremy Swartz and senior Nick Charron each scored power play goals after the Nazareth Men's Hockey team had fallen behind 2-0 to lift the Golden Flyers to a second consecutive come-from-behind road win over Lebanon Valley Saturday afternoon at the Hershey Park Arena.
Lebanon Valley (0-4 overall, 0-2 UCHC) scored twice in the first period to take a 2-0 lead for the second consecutive night but Nazareth (2-2, 2-0 UCHC) was able to battle back again with two goals in a span of 1:20 late in the second period to tie the score.
Swartz scored the first Nazareth with a power play goal assisted by senior Henry McKinney.
McKinney had the helper on the second goal as well as he set up sophomore Ethan Louisos for his first goal of the season to tie the score with 4:40 left in the second stanza.
With 6:53 left to play, Charron netted his first of the season to give the Golden Flyers the lead. Sophomore Joey Schafer had the assist on the Charron goal.
Lebanon Valley pulled its goalie late in the game for the extra attacker and had some pressure in the Nazareth zone but sophomore Liam Quinlivan picked up a loose puck near the blue line and skated in for the empty net goal to seal the victory and keep Nazareth undefeated in league play over the first two conference games of the year.
Sophomore goalie Raphael Provencher needed to make just nine saves to earn the victory as Nazareth held a commanding 57-11 advantage in shots.
Nazareth will travel to Fredonia for an Election Day matchup with the Blue Devils in a non-conference game before returning home for the weekend to face Arcadia in a UCHC weekend series Friday and Saturday.
