ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Henry McKinney had a goal and an assist to lead the Nazareth Men's Hockey team to a 6-2 win Saturday over Arcadia to complete the weekend sweep over the Knights in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) game at the Bill Gray's Iceplex.
Nazareth (5-2-0 overall, 4-0-0 UCHC) did not waste much time as the Golden Flyers took a 1-0 lead 32 seconds into the game as sophomore Ethan Louisos capped a play set up by freshman Blake Front and McKinney for the early lead.
Arcadia (1-5-0, 1-3-0) answered back with a goal 45 seconds later to knot the score at 1-1 before the first line change.
Midway through the first stanza, Nazareth regained the lead with the first of two power play goals and freshman Logan Tobias scored with helpers from Louisos and sophomore Jeremy Swartz.
Arcadia tied the game again at the 11:59 mark with a man-advantage goal but four minutes later junior Liam Beaudoin scored on another power play to give Nazareth the lead for good. Sophomore Josh Dressler had the first of his two assists on the play.
Just seven seconds into the third period, Dressler sent a long pass to McKinney who raced in alone on the goalie for a goal and a 4-2 Nazareth lead.
Senior captain Nick Charron and sophomore Joey Schaffer added goals later in the period with graduate student Michael DiSchiavi picking up assists on both goals to cap the scoring.
Sophomore Raphael Provencher made 27 saves to earn the win.
Nazareth hits the road for a pair of games next weekend as the Golden Flyers head to Reading, PA to face Alvernia.
