ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A school record toss for sophomore
Lea Richard in the women's weight throw was among the highlights Saturday for Nazareth's track and field team, which hosted the 20-team Conference Challenge Cup at the Golisano Training Center.
Following Sunday's pentathlon, Nazareth scored 32 team points to stand in eighth place in the women's team standings.
Richard was responsible for six of those points as she uncorked a throw of 15.49 meters (50 feet, 10 inches) on her second of six attempts to finish in third place. She broke her previous indoor mark by more than a foot. Richard also competed in the shot put and finished 10th with a toss of 10.39 meters (34 feet, 1 1/4 inches).
The 3,000-meter run featured personal-best times for
Lilianna Hanning and
Emily Weaver, who finished sixth and seventh respectively with times of 10:55.92 and 11:01.20.
Brenna Johnson narrowly missed her school-record mark in the 60-meter dash as she finished fifth in 8.05, just shy of her 8.04 time she recorded two years ago at Houghton.
Elizabeth Decker also scored for Nazareth with a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.31
Nazareth also performed well in three relays. The Golden Flyers were sixth in the 4 x 200-meter relay (1:52.33) with the group of
Riley Norris,
Hannah Ragule,
Sophie Hartz and
MacKenzie Gilligan. In the 4 x 400-meter relay, Nazareth was sixth (4:14.75) with
Lauren Bendall, Decker,
Claire Bargabos and
Abbey Szumloz.
The distance medley relay finished fifth (14:11.42) and featured
Paige Ackley,
Isabella Heath,
Ruth DeSanctis and
Alexis Anagnostopulos.
Ragule and Gilligan represented Nazareth in Sunday's pentathlon and Ragule finished in seventh place to earn two team points.
