BROCKPORT, NY – Graduate student Anna Ahlquist placed second in the pole vault and set the school record as she cleared 3.50 meters (11' 5 ¾") as she led the Nazareth College Women's Track and Field team at the Brockport Invitational Saturday.
Ahlquist cleared three heights before her first miss at the 3.50-meter height. The transfer student from Roberts Wesleyan College cleared the bar on her next attempt to set the school record.
Geneseo won the team points race with 151 points followed by Rochester (134 points), Brockport (124), St. John Fisher 87) and Nazareth(55). Cortland rounded out the team scoring with 31 points.
Senior Claire Bargabos was also a second place finisher for the Golden Flyers in the 800 meters race and also led off the 4x400 relay that finished third in 4:40.13 as she ran with junior Alexis Anagnostopulos, sophomore Lilianna Hanning and freshman Ruth DeSanctis.
Graduate student Elizabeth Decker was third in the mile with a time of 5:31.21 and teammate junior Emily Weaver was fifth (5:34.17) in the race.
Sophomore Lea Richard was fourth in the weight throw with a 14.62-meter (47' 11 ¾") throw while sophomore Hannah Ragule was fourth (10.50 (34' 5 ½")) and fellow sophomore Isabella Heath was sixth (10.20 (33' 5 ¾)) in the triple jump.
Additional top finishers included freshman MacKenzie Gilligan (sixth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.82 and sixth in the high jump (1.51 meters (4' 11 ½")), Heath (sixth in the 400 in 1:05.16) and Ragule (eighth in the long jump 4.92 meters (16' 1 ¾")).
Nazareth will host the Conference Challenge Cup and Multi event next weekend in the Golisano Training Center.
