CLINTON, NY – The Nazareth College men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Hamilton College for the Hamilton Outdoor Invitational Saturday afternoon and came home with seven top-10 finishes as well as several personal best results.
Abbey Szumloz had a personal best time as she finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:14.96 and she also teamed with Claire Bargabos and Sarah Smith as well as Kaitlyn Dobbertin to finish 11th in the 4x400 relay.
The Golden Flyers started the day with a top-10 in the 4x100 relay as Madison Sabourin, Brenna Johnson, Kathleen Irwin and Julianna Bunnell for a 6th place finish in 52.87. In the 100-meter dash, senior Alycia Eaton clocked a 12.99 to finish 7th and then she took 7th in the 200-meter dash with a personal best 26.40. Johnson was 13th in the 100 and 16th in the 200 for Nazareth.
Eaton added a 5th place finish in the long jump (5.31 meters/17' 5 ¼") while Sara Thomas was 11th and Irwin 14th in the event. Thomas also tied for 9th in the high jump.
Freshman Hayley Cronin finished 15th in the 1500 while the throwers had another solid day.
Freshman Ally Criswell led the way with a 22nd place finish and a PR in the javelin, a 13th place finish in the hammer throw and a 14th place finish in the discus. Freshman Gabrielle Pighetti was 11th in the shot put with a new outdoor PR and freshman Bailey Robinson was 16th in the hammer.
For the Nazareth men, William Lewis was 10th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19:32 and also finished 20th in the long jump. Matthew Johnson was 11th in the triple jump, 15th in the 400-meters and 21st in the long jump while Josh Tomaka took 17th in the 1500-meters.
The Golden Flyers compete next at the Moravian College Invitational next weekend in Pennsylvania.
