ROCHESTER, NY – Only a limited number of athletes competed Saturday at the St. John Fisher Track and Field Invitational but the Nazareth College men's and women's track and field teams combined for 13 top-20 finishes.
Sophomore Taylor Robey and seniors Sara Thomas and Alycia Eaton led the way for the women's squad as Robey finished third while Thomas took sixth and Eaton eighth in the high jump for the Golden Flyers. Robey and Thomas each cleared 1.42 meters (4' 7 ¾") while Eaton cleared 1.37 meters (4' 6").
In addition to the high jump finishes, sophomore Kelly Artini was 10th in the 800-meters while sophomore Deirdre Brett and freshman Hayley Cronin were 11th and 15th respectively in the 1500-meter race.
Freshman Bailey Robinson was 10th and fellow freshman Grace Blankenberg were 10th and 18th in the hammer throw while freshmen Gabrielle Pighetti Madison Sabourin took 15th and 17th respectively in the javelin throw.
On the men's side, freshman Josh Tomaka was 13th and fellow freshman Jake Suddaby was 18th in the 1500-meter race while freshman Patrick Healy captured 20th place in the 800-meters for Nazareth.
Both the Nazareth men's and women's teams will be in competition next weekend at the Empire 8 Championships at Houghton College.
