BETHLEHEM, PA – Another school record for freshman Ally Criswell in the discus throw highlighted the performance of the Nazareth College men's and women's track and field teams Friday and Saturday at the Coach Pollard Invitational at Moravian College.
Criswell set another personal best and upped her school record in the discus throw as she finished 12th with a toss of 34.68 meters.
The two results were highlights of a meet that featured six top-10 finishes and 12 top-20 results for the Golden Flyers.
The 4x400 relay with Alycia Eaton, Brenna Johnson, Claire Bargabos and Maria Stahr finished fourth with a season-best time of 4:04.99 while the 4x100 relay with Madison Sabourin, Johnson, Juliana Bunnell and Kathleen Irwin took 11th with a season best time of 50.81.
Eaton added a 5th place finish in the long jump (5.38 meters) and a 6th place finish in the 400-meter race. Stahr was 7th in the 800 (2:23.96). Fellow senior Sara Thomas was 16th in the triple jump with a 10.42-meter finish.
Freshman Haley Cronin had a personal best time in the 5K with an 18:51.50 and a 6th place finish and fellow freshman Grace Blankenberg had a PR in the hammer throw with a 12th place finish and 36.62-meter toss.
Other top finishes included sophomore Kelly Artini with a 17th place finish and 2:29.98 time in the 800 and fellow sophomore Deirdre Brett with a 20th place finish and 5:04.66 time in the 1500-meter run. For the throws, freshmen Gabrielle Pighetti took 21st with a 10.48-meter shot put finish and Bailey Robinson was 14th with a 36.48-meter toss in the hammer throw.
On the men's side, freshmen Jake Suddaby and Josh Tomaka finished 22nd and 27th respectively in the 5K race while freshman Coleton Pallatto took 8th in the 3K steeplechase with a time of 10:37.42.
The Golden Flyers will compete next at the University of Rochester Invitational next Saturday.
