GENESEO, N.Y. -- Senior Julius Tamasy scored two goals, including an empty-netter in the closing minute that helped seal a 3-1 men's hockey victory for Nazareth over Geneseo in a non-conference game Tuesday.

Freshman Oliver Janzen also scored for the Golden Flyers, who won the second meeting of the season between the two teams and improved to 7-6-3 overall. Geneseo is 7-7-3. The teams tied 1-1 back on Dec. 2.

Geneseo scored 13 minutes into the first period, then the Golden Flyers, behind 34 saves from junior goaltender Ed Zdolshek, shut the Knights out the rest of the way.

Tamasy tied the score with :51 left in the first period as he converted a power play opportunity with assists from junior Don Olivieri and sophomore C.J. Murray. The power play resulted when Geneseo's A.J. Sgaraglio was whistled for checking from behind at 18:57.

Janzen then delivered the game winner at 3:34 of the second before Tamasy iced it with his empty-net score for his fourth goal of the season.

Geneseo had a 35-29 advantage in shots on goal, but the Knights went 0-for-6 on the power play. Nazareth was able to weather a six-minute stretch in the second period during which Ryan Walter, Olivieri and Scott Andler were whistled for consecutive minor penalties, including two that overlapped into a 5-on-3 advantage for Geneseo for 13 seconds. Zdolshek, who improved to 6-3-2 on the season, had 21 of his 34 saves in the second period.

"A solid win against a good team," said Nazareth Coach George Roll. "We've finally got just about everybody back and healthy."

Tuesday's game was the Golden Flyers' final non-conference game of the season as they return to ECAC West action this weekend with a pair of home games against Hobart. Both weekend games start at 7 p.m. at the Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex.
