Updated statsOSWEGO, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth fell to second-ranked Oswego 4-0 in a non-conference hockey game Saturday evening. The Lakers scored three first-period goals to take the early advantage, and they added a goal in the second period to continue to pull away. After allowing the early goals, the Golden Flyers held Oswego off the board for the final 38:20 of regulation. Sophomore
Brandon Lane made his first start in goal for Nazareth and finished with 24 saves.
Following the loss, the Golden Flyers fall to 2-2-1 overall. With the victory, the Lakers remain undefeated and improve to 5-0 overall.
Oswego's Andrew Barton opened the scoring 6:06 into the first period with an unassisted score. Mitchell Herlihey scored only 3:03 later to build the Lakers' advantage. Herlihey's goal was assisted by Matt Galati and Bobby Gertsakis. With under eight seconds remaining in the period, the Lakers scored a critical goal on the power play to extend their lead to 3-0 going into the second period. Galati tallied the man-up goal with assists going to Alex Botten and Gertsakis.
In the opening minutes of the second stanza, the Lakers took advantage of another man-advantage opportunity. Following a faceoff in Nazareth's zone, Galati found the back of the Golden Flyers' goal again to stretch Oswego's lead to four goals. Botten was credited with his second assist of the evening.
The Lakers finished with a 28-24 advantage in shots on goal and a 48-17 advantage in faceoffs won. Junior

Mike Miller and sophomore Dominak Gabaj each had shots ring off the post. Miller's shot hit the post in the second period, and Gabaj's attempt hit the pipe in the third. Senior
Julius Tamasy won a team-high seven faceoffs for Nazareth. The Lakers entered Friday's contest outscoring opponents 29-10.
The Golden Flyers resume ECAC West action next weekend with a pair of contests at the Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex. Nazareth hosts Manhattanville at 7 p.m. on Friday then the Golden Flyers play Neumann at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
