ITHACA, N.Y. -- Nazareth freshman Dan Burke continued to excel for the Golden Flyers' men's swimming and diving team Saturday as the team competed in the final day of the Upper New York State Championships at Ithaca's Acquatics Pavilion.

Nazareth broke two more school records and came close to a third. Burke finished fourth in the 200 backstroke as he broke the 14-year-old school record with an NCAA B-cut qualifying time of 1:52.51. The previous record of 1:54.56 by Jeff McCormack was in place since 1999.

Burke was joined by seniors Mike Bidwell and Jacob Kline and junior Bryan Geary to break the school record in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:13.16 in the prelims. In the 200 breaststroke, junior Tim Rappold narrowly missed the school record as he finished fourth with a time of 2:09.05. Freshman Jeff Green finished 11th in the 3-meter diving competition with a school-record score of 374.95. He finished seventh in the 1-meter competition earlier in the week with a school-record score of 466.75.

In the women's meet, senior Carissa Risucci was back in the water Saturday and won the 200 breastroke with a school-record shattering time of 2:16.20, automatically qualifying her for the NCAA Division III Championships March 20-23 in Shenandoah, Texas. Risucci will be making her fourth straight trip to the national meet.

Nazareth finished in fourth place in the team standings with 845 points in the 16-team field. Stevens finished first with 1,447 points and Ithaca was second with 1333.5 points. Risucci also was named Swimmer of the Meet as she touched out Stevens' Brittany Geyer (2:16.71) in the finals.

Sophomore Brittany Friedrich also competed in the 200 breaststroke final and finished sixth in 2:27.82.

Nazareth also had a fourth-place finish in the 400 free relay as juniors Maura Reissig, Karisa Kobel and Emily Sauter were joined by senior McKenna Murphy to swim 3:36.45. Sauter also finished fourth in the 100 freestyle with a time of :52.77.

In the 200 backstroke, Reissig and senior Rachel House finished 11th and 16th respectively with times of 2:10.11 and 2:13.58. Sophomore Emma Dorschel placed 11th in tyhe 1,650-meter freestyle with a time of 18:20.57. She was followed by Friedrich in 12th place (18:31.50) and Renee Stromski in 15th place (18:38.61).
