ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host Nazareth won eight events and broke a pair of school records Saturday, but the Golden Flyers fell short against RIT in a men's swimming and diving meet, 167-130, as the Tigers finished 1-2 in the meet's final relay.
Nazareth competed its regular-season schedule with a 3-5 dual meet mark. In the women's meet, Nazareth won 13 of 16 events for a 168-122 victory over the Tigers to complete the regular season at 5-3.
Freshman
Dan Burke broke a 31-year-old school record in winning the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:00.04. The previous record of 1:00.85 was set by Hall of Famer Rick Carvotta in March of 1982. Burke also swam the lead-off leg of the 200-meter medley relay that finished second in a school record time of 1:51.63. Seniors
Mike Bidwell and
Jacob Kline also swam in the event along with junior
Tim Rappold.
Rappold won three other events for Nazareth -- the 100- and 200-meter breaststrokes as well as the 200 IM. Rappold swam 1:09.73 to win the 100 breast and 2:33.31 to win the 200. He swam 2:17.94 in the 200 IM.
Other Nazareth winners were Burke in the 200 backstroke (2:11.04); junior
Justin Sawran in the 800 freestyle (9:15.53); Bidwell in the 200 freestyle (2:04.61) and Kline in the 100 freestyle (:55.57).
In the women's meet, Nazareth improved to 5-3 in dual meets as senior

Maura Reissig and
Emily Sauter each won four events and senior
McKenna Murphy won three.
Reissig, Risucci and Sauter each swam on the winning 200-meter medley relay that also included junior
Karisa Kobel and posted a time of 2:06.92. Kobel also swam with Murphy, Reissig and Sauter in the 400 free relay that finished first in 4:15.74. Risucci won both breaststroke events, narrowly missing her own pool records in each. She swam 1:16.44 to win the 100, just off her record of 1:16.06. She swam 2:43.45 to win the 200, missing her record of 2:43.04. She added a first-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:34.71.
Reissig won both backstroke events, posting times of 1:10.31 and 2:32.40 in the 100 and 200 respectively. Sauter was first in the 50- and 100-meter freestyles with times of :27.48 and 1:01.59 respectively. Murphy won the 200- and 400-meter freestyles with times of 2:14.83 and 4:44.77 respectively.
Other winners were sophomore
Emma Dorschel in the 800 freestyle (9:53.07) and sophomore
Kristen Vitale in the 200 butterfly (2:37.18).
Nazareth competes next in the Upper New York State/Empire 8 Conference meet at Ithaca Feb. 20-23.
