GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Nazareth's fourth-ranked men's volleyball team completed the second day of competition at the Thiel Tournament Sunday and the Golden Flyers split a pair of competitive matches against two other nationally ranked teams.
Nazareth improved to 3-0 with a four-set victory over 10th-ranked Carthage in the opening match. Scores were 25-21, 25-20, 25-27, 25-11. The Golden Flyers then lost in four sets to second-ranked Juniata (25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 25-22).
Sophomore setter
EJ Wells-Spicer had 55 assists in the Carthage match with senior
Hans Schroeder and junior
Billy Gimello benefitting with 14 and 13 kills repsectively. Gimello and had six blocks and sophomore
Dan Mowery had seven digs.
Mowery had 13 digs in the Juniata match, while senior
Ellis Walsh had a team-high 13 kills. Gimello added 12 kills and Wells-Spicer had 35 assists.
Nazareth is in action again Thursday for a non-conference match at Medaille at 7 p.m.
