Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men’s Volleyball Upended by No. 24 Vassar

ROCHESTER, NY (nazathletics.com) - Men's Volleyball (12-13, 1-5) fell to No. 24 Vassar, 3-0, in a UVC matchup inside Kidera Gymnasium Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Nazareth battled in a tight opening set, falling 25-23 after tying the frame at 12-12 and 14-14 before a Vassar 4-0 run made it 18-14. The Golden Flyers got within 20-19 and later 24-23 but couldn't complete the comeback.
  • In the second set, Nazareth dropped a 25-22 decision after a Sean Frawley service run helped flip an early deficit into a 10-8 lead, with the teams trading points through 15-15. A 5-0 Brewer run created separation at 20-15, and despite late kills from AJ Burda and Quintin Chiles to cut it to 23-21, Nazareth dropped its second-straight stanza.
  • Nazareth fell 25-18 in the third set after trailing 8-3 early and struggling to regain momentum. Kills from Burda and Ryan Murphy helped trim the deficit late to 22-17, but the gap proved too large to overcome.
GAME NOTES
  • Ryan Murphy led the Golden Flyers with nine kills at .467, his 10th match hitting .400 or better this season. He chipped in a team-best three blocks for 11.5 points
  • AJ Burda notched 21 kills in the loss, his 20th contest with 20 or more assists.
