ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth scored a pair of second-half goals less than two minutes apart Friday as the Golden Flyers secured their first men's soccer victory of the season, a 2-0 win over Oswego in a non-conference game played at Roberts Wesleyan.

Nazareth boosted its overall record to 1-1-1. Oswego dropped to 0-3. The Golden Flyers play their first home game Saturday against Division III power Messiah, ranked 17th nationally.

Against Oswego, Nazareth dominated statistically with 20-8 advantage in shots and a 7-4 edge in corner kicks. The Golden Flyers didn't get on the scoreboard, however, until the 61st minute when sophomore Shane Mead scored his first Nazareth goal. Less than two minutes later, freshman John Kerr added his first career goal to give Nazareth a two-goal advantage.

Junior goalie Kyle Connolly needed to make just two saves in recording his second shutout in three starts.

Messiah was set to play Roberts Wesleyan in the second game. The Falcons have won seven national titles in the last 10 seasons, including last year's championship.
