Kotak lifts Nazareth past Fisher, 3-1

ROCHESTER, NY - Nazareth's Rikesh Kotak scored two first-half goals Saturday to lead the host Golden Flyers in a 3-1 win over St. John Fisher.  Nazareth, with its third straight win, improved to 6-6-2 and 4-1-0 in the Empire 8 while St. John Fisher fell to 2-10-2 and 1-4-0 in the conference.

Kotak scored the first goal of the game at 25:07 off a left-side cross from Ryan Foley, who picked up his fifth assist of the season. Just seven minutes later, at 32:11, Nazareth was awarded a free kick just outside of the box.  Kotak scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season off of the free kick.

The Golden Flyers led 2-0 at the half after out-shooting the Cardinals 10-6. 

St. John Fisher's Stefan John pulled the Cardinals within one with a goal at 52:56 off of an assist from Sean Fishel. The Cardinals gained momentum after the goal, but were held scoreless for the remainder of the game.

Nazareth's Sean Dorman scored the final goal of the game off a header at 67:17 to give the Golden Flyers the 3-1 lead.  Dorman's goal was assisted by James Wheeler, whose free kick was directly on goal. 

Kyle Connolly had six saves in goal for the Golden Flyers and Robert Weigand finished with eight saves for Fisher. 

Nazareth is home again on Tuesday, October 19th hosting Buffalo State for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference game.
