Melissa Cutcliffe and
Lauren Glaser are the Golden Flyers' 2008 representatives on the All-Academic Track and Field team that was released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Cutcliffe, a native of Pavilion, N.Y. and a graduate of Eden High School, Cutcliffe had a strong indoor season for the Golden Flyers as she was named Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Year after winning the conference title in the long jump. She provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championship meet and set a school record with a distance of 17 feet, 9 3/4 inches. She carries a cumulative grade-point average of 3.989.
Glaser, of Huntington, N.Y. and a graduate of Huntington High School, excelled for the Golden Flyers in the 800-meter run as she won the Empire 8 title both indoors and outdoors in 2008. She holds school records both indoor (2:18.76) and outdoor (2:14.99). She has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.70.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.
