Penn Yan, N.Y. (nazathletics.com) – Nazareth's men's golf team competed against four opponents in the Keuka Invitational on Thursday at Lakeside Country Club. They put on a dominant performance, winning the event and seeing four of their golfers take each of the top four positions on the individual leaderboard. Nazareth closed out the event with a combined team score of +29, which was 23 strokes better than second place (+52).
How It Happened
- Freshman Joshua Anstett put on the best performance of his young college career, coming in just 5 over par with a score of 77 to claim his first individual event win. His day was highlighted by a stellar back nine that saw him come in at even par. Anstett managed to record an eagle on the 6th hole and a birdie on the 12th to go along with his 9 pars.
- Freshman Jaxstin Bingham took second place, coming in just one stroke higher than his teammate. He turned in a score of 78 (+6) on the round, highlighted by back-to-back birdies on holes 6 and 7. Contrary to Anstett, it was the front nine where Bingham found most of his success, coming in just one over par at the half-way point. His pair of birdies came alongside 9 pars.
- Junior Lincoln Crosby earned himself a third place finish, recording 11 pars along the way. His best hole came on the 12th, where he sunk a birdie on the 500-yard par 5. Crosby's performance was powered by a strong back nine, where he took just 37 strokes to come in one over par.
- Senior Vincent Falgiatano was fourth among Nazareth golfers and tied for fourth overall. He carded an 82 (+10) and capped it off with a birdie on 18. Falgiatano displayed consistency, finishing 4 holes on each side at par or better, and recording scores of 40 and 42 on the two sides respectively.
- Freshman Todd Wilson came in 14th overall and was the fifth lowest-scoring Golden Flyer. He sank 5 pars, including three in a row on the back nine to help him finish the day with an 87 (+15).
- Senior Charlie Calcagni (IND) came in just one stroke behind Wilson with a score of +16 (88). His performance earned him 16th place overall out of 32 golfers, turning in identical scores on both sides of the course.
- Freshman Jack Fesetch and sophomore Justin Krause rounded out the Golden Flyers team, both competing as individual golfers. They carded scores of 90 (+18) and 97 (+25) respectively, combining for 10 pars and one birdie, which came courtesy of Fesetch on hole 6.
