Dance Makes History at NDA Nationals with First Finals Appearance

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (nazathletics.com) - The Nazareth dance team delivered a historic performance in its first appearance at the National Dance Alliance College Nationals, highlighted by a finals berth and program-best finishes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Nazareth competed in the Division III Jazz category with its routine "How True Is Your Love," placing seventh overall. The Golden Flyers missed the jazz finals by tenths of a point, but recorded the highest score and finish in program history for the event at a national competition.
  • In Division III Pom, Nazareth advanced to finals for the first time in program history with its routine "Pitbull Remix." The Golden Flyers finished fourth overall, marking the most successful national championship performance in program history.
  • The pom result caps a rapid rise for the program, which began training and competing in the category during the 2023-24 season at local events. This season marked Nazareth's first time competing in pom at both the regional and national levels.
  • Both routines were choreographed by the coaching staff in collaboration with co-captains Mikayla Avery and Morgan Spath.
HEAR FROM THE GOLDEN FLYERS
  • "I could not be more proud of this team and our coaches and what we were able to accomplish," senior captain Mikayla Avery said. "Trying something new turned out in our favor, and going from never competing pom to successfully competing it is something I am incredibly proud of."
  • "Proud is an understatement," Head Coaches Kristin Thayer and Natalie Salewski said. "We feel honored to be a part of such a historic season and look forward to continuing to push this program to its highest potential."
