NDT Shows Out On Sunday For NDT Collegiate Classic

ROCHESTER, NY – Sunday was jammed-packed day for the Nazareth Dance Team (NDT) at the NDT Collegiate Classic held at Kidera Gymnasium. In all, there were 43 entries competing across seven different teams (NDT, Brockport Dance Team, Oneonta State Kickline, Oneonta State Dance Team, RIT Vis Viva Dance Company, and Niagara University Danceline). The uptick in teams also helped with a 45 percent increase in ticket sales/spectator attendance from last year's NDT Collegiate Classic.

Nazareth Dance Team received the following results:
- 2nd place out of 18 in the Solo category - Lauren Entwistle (Sr.) with "I Didn't Know My Own Strength"
- 3rd place out of 18 in the Solo category - Mikayla Avery (Jr., Captain.) with "Under Pressure"
- 4th place out of 18 in the Solo category - Hailey Eschberger (Sr., Captain) with "That's Life"
Hailey also received a special judges' award, "Captivating Performer," for her solo.
6th place out of 18 in the Solo category - Alaina Sprole (Sr., Captain) with "Writings on the Wall"
- 3rd place out of 6 in the Duet category - Lauren Entwistle and Alaina Sprole with "Gravity"
- 1st place out of 5 in the Large Pom category - Whole Team with "Gaga"
- 1st place out of 6 in the Large Contemporary category - Whole Team with "Innocence and Sadness"
- "Innocence and Sadness" also received the first place overall high score of the entire competition.

All solos and the duet were self-choreographed by NDT, and both the large pom and large contemporary group were choreographed by all three captains and both coaches. All of these dances will be performed again at our upcoming end-of-year showcase on Sunday, April 27th in Kidera at 11:00am.

Quotes to describe the weekend:

"We as captains are so beyond proud of the team this season and it has been so rewarding to see how far this program has come. None of this could have happened without the countless hours of dedication from the girls and coaches in practice and behind the scenes. This weekend was a testament to the hard work put in by everyone this year and we could not be happier with the outcome." -Captains: Hailey Eschberger, Alaina Sprole, Mikayla Avery

"This weekend showed us that when we come together as a team, we can achieve our biggest goals! This team is one of a kind and a sisterhood. I am forever proud of all of us and our dedication." -Kaylen Lamphere (Fr.).
