Dance Hosts NDT Collegiate Classic

ROCHESTER, NY (nazathletics.com) - The Nazareth Dance Team delivered a standout performance on its home floor, hosting the NDT Collegiate on Sunday inside Kidera Gymnasium. The Golden Flyers captured a first-place finish in large contemporary and earned multiple top placements while hosting 11 teams and 70 entries in a high-energy competition.

"The event was largely successful due to the help of many of our volunteers and support from Athletics," said Head Coaches Kristin Thayer and Natalie Salewski. "The bleachers were absolutely packed and the energy in the gym was electric for the entire competition. We received great feedback from spectators, coaches and athletes, everyone had a blast."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Nazareth earned first place in the large contemporary category with a newly developed routine, also receiving a special judges award for "Exceptional Execution."
  • The Golden Flyers added a second-place finish in the large pom category with their "Pitbull Remix" routine.
  • Both group performances were choreographed collaboratively by the coaching staff and team captains Mikayla Avery and Morgan Spath.
  • In the solo category, Alexis Lasher placed fifth and Mikayla Avery finished ninth out of more than 30 entries, with both routines self-choreographed and separated from first place by less than two points.
