MYRTLE BEACH, SC – In one of the first events to be contested at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, sophomore Rosie Morse cleared three heights to finish 17th overall in the pole vault competition for the Nazareth University Women's Track and Field team Thursday afternoon.
Morse was tied with three other competitors at the 3.71 meters (12' 2") height but finished behind the trio based on missed attempts.
The sophomore from Ithaca, NY cleared the opening height on her first attempt at 3.41 meters (11' 2 ¼"). She followed a miss on her first attempt at the second height (3.56 meters - 11' 8"), with another successful attempt to move on in the competition.
At the 3.71-meter (12' 2") height, Morse missed her first two attempts before clearing the bar which was just ¾" shy of the newly established school record by Morse last week at the All-Atlantic Regional Championship meet.
Morse missed her first attempt at 3.76 meters (12' 4") and passed on her final two attempts to advance to the next height that could put her in the top-10.
A pair of misses at the 3.81-meter (12' 6") bar ended her day and placed her just shy of All-American status in 17th place.
