ROCHESTER, NY– Senior
Kaleb Luton (110-hurdles) and sophomores
Gabe Wilson (long jump) and
Ryan DeShane (triple jump) each took home first place in their respective events at the RIT Tiger Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Luton was the top performer in the 110-meter hurdles earning a time of 14.98. DeShane followed in fourth place with a 16.64 improving from his personal best of 16.99. DeShane also claimed first place in the triple jump with a mark of 12.27 meters (40' 3.1'').
Wilson notched first place in the long jump with at 5.86 meters (19' 2.7'') and improved his score in the event (previous best of 5.58 meters (18' 3.7''). Fellow teammate
Carlton Garnes jumped 5.69 meters (18' 8'') to secure third place in the same event. Wilson also claimed seventh place in the javelin throw with a mark of 37.51 meters (123' 0.8'').
Mike Welch,
Benjamin Lewis,
Jack Pomykaj, and
Jaylen Savage took third place in the 4x100 event with a time of 44.05. Lewis also placed second in the 200-meter event (22.65), while Savage earned seventh in the 400-meter event with a 52.85.
Several Golden Flyers had strong performances in the 1500-meter event led by junior
Cade Eells who earned third with a 4:09.31. Senior
Nathan Bowers (4:11.06) placed fifth, while junior
Ethan Kenyon (4:12.78) followed in sixth place,
Antonio Benitez (4:20.88) in ninth place.
Sophomore
Aaron Lund secured second place in the 400-meter hurdle event in a time of 58.35, followed by fellow sophomore
Holden Thomas (1:04.21) who placed fifth.
Gavin McAllister (2:01.09) and
Joseph Cataldo (2:03.38) had strong outings with second and fourth place finishes in the 800-meter event, respectively. Sophomore
Jason Marchincin also earned third place in the high jump event at 1.71 meters (5' 7.3'')
Senior
Connor McCauslin ran a 11.86 in the 100-meter event notching sixth place.
In the hammer throw event,
Declan Murphy had a heave of 41.13 meters (134' 11.3'') and
David Dobrowolski threw 40.83 meters (133' 11.5'') to place sixth and seventh. Murphy beat his personal best in the event previous best of 39.06 meters (128' 1.8'').
The Golden Flyers close out their regular season at the University of Rochester Spring Twilight Meet on Friday, April 26 at 2 p.m.
