Final Results
ROCHESTER, NY –Sophomore Michael Puglisi placed second in the 400 and helped the 4x200 relay to a third-place finish as the Nazareth University Men's Track and Field team placed fifth at the annual Conference Challenge Cup meet at the Golisano Training Center Saturday.
Cortland won the team scoring with 142.5 points followed by Geneseo (130.5), Rochester (115), Susquehanna (108) and Nazareth (41), The Golden Flyers finished ahead of Misericordia (38), Ithaca (27), Scranton (26) and St. John Fisher (24).
Puglisi finished second in the 400-meter race with a time of 51.71 and was just .57 off the first-place pace. Graduate student Mike Welch was third in 52.41 and junior Banjamin Lewis was fifth in 52.72.
The trio joined sophomore Jack Pomykaj to place third in the 4x200 relay as Nazareth finished in 1:33.06.
The Distance Medley Relay was third with a time of 11:16.80 as senior Kenny Williams, junior Noah Engel, sophomore Gavin McAllister and freshman Joe Britschge ran for the Golden Flyers.
Additional top finishers included freshman Cole Hastings who was 10th in the 800 with a time of 2:02.57, junior Cade Eells and graduate student Nathan Bowers who finished sixth and ninth respectively in the 3K race with times of 8:55.26 and 9:01.69. Senior Connor McCauslin placed ninth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.85.
In the field events, the duo of sophomore Jason Bletsko and Pomykaj placed fifth and sixth in the pole vault. Bletsko cleared 4.31 meters (14' 1 ¾") and Pomykaj had a final height of 4.16 (13' 7 ¾").
Nazareth will compete next weekend at the Bomber Invitational at Ithaca College.
