GENESEO, NY – Senior Mike Welch took second place in the 100-meter dash and freshman Holden Thomas was second in the 110-meter hurdles to lead the Nazareth Men's Track and Field team on the second day of competition at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational Monday.
Welch ran an 11.13 to finish second in the 100 meters and Thomas led four Golden Flyer hurdles to top-6 finishes in the 110 hurdles final. Thomas was second in 16.63 while fellow freshman Aaron Lund was third in 16.82, senior Connor McCauslin was 4th in 16.96 and freshman Ryan DeShane was 6th with a time of 17.12.
DeSahne added a 6th place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 12.33 meters (40' 5 ½").
Senior Josh Pomerleau led three top finishers in the pole vault for Nazareth as he tied for 3rd with a final height of 4.30 meters (14' 1 ¼"). Freshman Jason Bletsko was 5th with a mark of 4.10 meters (13' 5 /14") and fellow freshman John Pomykaj was 10th with his mark of 3.70 meters (12' 1 ½").
Sophomore Benjamin Lewis was 5th in the 200 meters with a time of 22.84 while both sophomore Kyle Reid and senior Arthur DeVasto tied for 9th in the high jump as each cleared the 1.76-meter (5' 9 ¼") bar on their third and final attempt.
Nazareth will compete at the RIT Invitational Saturday.
