ITHACA, NY – Senior Kaleb Luton won the 60-meter hurdles while freshman Gavin McAllister was fifth in the 400, freshman Gabe Wilson was sixth in the triple jump and senior Nathan Bowers was sixth in the mile to lead the Nazareth Men's Track and Field team at the Bomber Invitational in Ithaca. The meet features many of the top performers in the region.
Luton ran a top time in the preliminaries with an 8.44 in the hurdles race and then clocked an 8.33 time in the finals to win the race.
McAllister was the top Nazareth finisher in the 400 as he posted a personal best time of 52.32. Bowers was also a top Nazareth finisher in the mile as he crossed the line in 4:25.82 to place sixth. Graduate student Patrick Healy was 10th in 4:27.01 for his personal best.
Wilson was sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 12 meters (39' 4 ½") on his final leap.
Additional top-10 finishers included freshman Adam Reifsteck with a sixth in the long jump (6.21 meters/20' 4 ½") and sophomore Cade Eells who placed seventh in the 800 with a 1:59.68.
Joining Reifsteck in the long jump were freshman Ryan DeShane in 11th with a PR of 5.97 meters (19' 7") and fellow freshman Jason Bletsko with a 5.80 (19' ½") in 14th place.
Bletsko added an 11th place finish in the pole vault as he hit his PR with a 4.11-meter (13' 5 ¾") jump.
The Golden Flyers had a trio of top finishers in both the 60-meters and the 200-meters races. Senior Mike Welch (11th in 60 and 17th in the 200), freshman Michael Puglisi (12th in the 60 and 13th in the 200) and sophomore Benjamin Lewis (14th in the 60 and 15th in the 200) led the Golden Flyers in the sprints.
Junior Kenny Williams captured 14th in the 3K race with his time of 9:22.97.
The Invitational concludes Sunday with the final events of the Pentathlon and Heptathlon. Freshmen
Aaron Lund (11th place) and
John Pomykaj (13th place) will compete Sunday in the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1000 meter race to complete the event.
