Charron and Men's Hockey Grind Out 1-0 Win Over Neumann

ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Nick Charron delivered the lone goal on Saturday with less than four minutes remaining to lift Nazareth to a 1-0 victory over Neumann on the Golden Flyers Senior Day. With the win, Nazareth moves to 14-7-2 overall and 12-5-1 in league play. The Knights drop to 16-7 overall and 4-14 in league play.

The Golden Flyers are currently in third place in the conference standings with 37 points, three points ahead of Chatham, who the Golden Flyers face off against next weekend. Utica has clinched the overall top seed for the UCHC postseason.

Nazareth successfully killed off two penalties in the opening period and held an 8-7 edge in shots after a scoreless first 20 minutes.

It was a penalty-riddled third period for both teams, 12 total between the two squads, including two 10-minute misconducts for the visitors.

After starting the period on the power play, the Golden Flyers picked up a 5-on-3 opportunity for over a minute with another penalty early in the third from the Knights. Nazareth was unable to convert on the two-man advantage.

The hosts were eventually able to break through on the man advantage with 3:36 on the clock, as Liam Quinlivan threaded a cross-ice pass to Charron in the open slot for a one-time goal. It was Charron's sixth goal of the season and fourth game-winning goal of his career. Liam Beaudoin also picked up an assist on the play.

For the final 1:30 of play the Knights played with an empty net but were unable to break through goaltender Raphael Provencher. He made 24 saves in net and earned his second shutout of the season.

Nazareth travels to Chatham on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest.
