AMHERST, MA –
Anthony Quinlivan scored his first goal of the year, while his brother
Liam Quinlivan added another to help Nazareth defeat Amherst College 2-1 on Monday night in the Golden Flyers first contest since December 3. With the win, Nazareth improves to 8-4 on the season, while Amherst falls to 6-2-1. The Mammoths received votes in the most recent USCHO.com poll released on January 2.
After a scoreless first period, Nazareth opened up the scoring 2:25 into the second on
Anthony Quinlivan's first goal since January 15, 2022.

Anthony Quinlivan was able to clean up the loose puck on the backside for the 1-0 advantage.
Liam Quinlivan got on the other side of the goal in the third period. He skated behind the defense on a 2-on-2 break and
Michael DiSchiavi split the defenders on a pass for a breakaway goal. The shot hit the Mammoth goaltender and trickled in for his second of the season which proved to be the game-winning goal.
The score remained 2-0 in favor of the visitors until Ben Kuzma of Amherst scored with just over three minutes remaining in the game to pull within 2-1.
Nazareth had to buckle down over the final minutes on defense, including killing off a penalty for the final :58 seconds of the game.
Matt Sayles got the start in net, making 16 saves to earn his third win of the season.
Each team finished the game with 17 shots.
The Golden Flyers and Mammoths will be back in action on Tuesday with a 3 p.m. puck drop.
