ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Sophomore
Lea Richard continued to excel for the Golden Flyers Saturday in women's track and field as she turned in a second-place finish in the weight throw as Nazareth completed day two of the All-Atlantic Regional Championships at the Golisano Training Center.
Richard improved upon her own school record with a heave of 16.24 meters (53 feet, 3 1/2 inches) in the weight throw as the Golden Flyers finished 10th in the team standings with 26 points.
Senior
Brenna Johnson competed in two events Saturday and finished third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.88 seconds, just a couple of ticks shy of her school-record time of 7.85 in Friday's prelims. Johnson also earned three team points with a sixth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.42 meters (17 feet, 9 1/2 inches). She came up short of her personal-best distance of 5.66 meters (18 feet, 7 inches). She is among the Division III leaders in that event and will find out before the end of the weekend if she will be headed to the indoor national meet in North Carolina next week.
Grad student
Abbey Szumloz finished 11th in the 400-meter dash (1:01.13),

Sarah Merriwether was 11th in the high jump at 1.55 meters (5 feet,1 inch).
In the men's meet, Nazareth failed to register any team points, but junior
Nathan Bowers just missed breaking the school record in the 3,000-meter run. He finished 14th with a time of 8:41.99, less than two seconds off Brendan Epstein's record of 8:40.41, set in 2008. Freshman
Benjamin Lewis finished 11th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.55 seconds.
Junior
Kaleb Luton didn't compete for the Golden Flyers over the weekend as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury he suffered at last week's conference meet. He is set to compete at next week's national meet in the 60-meter hurdles.
